Multiple Surf Lessons?
We offer a great discount of 20% for those that want to make the most of their time in Cornwall by booking multiple Surf lessons. Get 20% when you book three or more surf lessons by using the discount code "surfsafari". One surf lesson is amazing but why stop the fun there!
What if it’s raining?
Whilst learning to surf in the sun is always a bonus we can have just as much fun learning to surf in the rain. The weather in Cornwall is often changeable, but Polzeath is a very robust location for quality surf lessons.
What are the age limits?
We can take anyone from 8 years upwards on our surf lessons, we recommend that anyone under the age of 13 is accompanied by an adult. There is no upper age limit so it’s never too late to learn!
Do I need to be able to swim?
We recommend that participants be able to swim up to 50 meters unassisted, but don’t worry, during your surf lesson you will have one big float and two helpful instructors with you.
Will I get cold?
Thanks to the warm gulf stream the water in Cornwall never gets too cold. However we have a range of excellent C-skins 4:3 wetsuits to help us stay warm. At the start of the season we also have our winter thickness suits to help keep you warm and toasty.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring a towel, swimwear, warm dry clothes for after the surf lesson and suncream (hopefully!). We also recommend bringing any medication such as asthma pumps and epipens that you normally carry. If you have your own wetsuit that is comfy and warm that you would prefer to wear please bring that along as well.
How long will it last?
The surf lesson will last between 2.5- 3 hours from arrival at our Dinham Farm HQ and leaving at the end. This includes enough time in the water with our coaches to learn the essential skills.
Where will we be going?
We have chosen Polzeath beach as our surf lesson location due to its excellent waves and open space. We run our surf lessons around the low tide to give us access to more space for our customers.
Can I bring a camera?
Yes! However, we recommend a robust camera with a float as the waves may knock it out of your hands. Hopefully you’ll be too busy shredding the waves to take videos anyway!
Safety when surfing
Polzeath can get very busy especially during peak season, because of this we run our surf lessons on the low tide so there is more space during your surf lesson. You will receive instruction on how to surf safely avoiding injury to yourself and others. You will also be accompanied by two of our lifeguard qualified instructors.
What will I learn?
Our instructors will teach you based on what you may already know so if you are a beginner or starting to learn some tricks the lesson will be tailored to you and your group. If you have a mixed ability group don’t panic, we use two instructors to give you the best instruction possible!
